Another high paying rodeo over the weekend was the Ponoka Stampede in Alberta. It was a whirlwind of a weekend for bareback riders, R.C. Landingham and J.R. Vezain. After making the short go at Ponoka, the cowboys found themselves in a bind as they had several other rodeos lined up to travel to. Instead of turning out of a couple competitions, Landingham and Vezain drove all night from Ponoka to Red Lodge, MT to ride at 3PM that afternoon; then drove 60 miles to Cody, WY to ride at 5PM. The duo then chartered a plane from Cody, WY to Herber City, UT and drove 20 miles over to Oakley City to ride at 8PM. After competing in Oakley, they jumped back in their truck, drove another 50 miles to West Jordan, UT, where they were bucking barebacks when Landingham and Vezain pulled in. The cowboys threw out their riggings and rode in West Jordan. In total that made 4 rodeos in 3 states in less than 6 hours for these two dedicated cowboys! Landingham ended up finishing 3rd in Ponoka with 171.5 pts. on two head. It’d been a slow 4th of July weekend for #CINCHteam Shay Carroll (and his partner Kolton Schmidt) until their run on July 3rd in Ponoka.
